The fit is
the point.

Uniforms end at the school gate. What you wear after? That’s where Republic Poly students actually say who they are. We spent a week with the fits, the thrift hauls and the 6am campus runways — and found a generation dressing for nobody’s approval but their own.

The style codes

Four styles, one corridor.

Ask a student what their fit means and you won’t get a brand name. You’ll get a sentence about who they’re becoming.

The Thrift Romantic

Baggy vintage denim, oversized tees, a single silver chain. Pre-loved pieces with a past they didn’t pay full price for.

The Clean Minimalist

Boxy tee, wide-leg jeans, fresh Sambas and nothing extra. No logos, no noise — just a silhouette that does the talking.

The Skate Casual

Low-slung jeans, a hoodie two sizes up, scuffed kicks. It looks unplanned because the coolest things on campus usually are.

The Colour Pop

One loud piece over a quiet base — a bold halter, bright denim, statement socks. If it sparks a second look, it did its job.

Ben’s Story

All black.
All him.

At a sold-out arena show, surrounded by sequins and glow sticks, Ben showed up in pure black — boxy shirt, wide-leg trousers, layered silver. We asked him what the fit was actually saying.

“Everyone dresses up for the concert. I dressed for the version of me who’s going to remember it.”

From the feature

“Before my first day I thought I had to look like everyone else. By week two I realised nobody here actually does.”
